High-tech Research Center

There are fifteen high-tech research centers and key laboratories in BAST, including three state key laboratories and high-tech research centers, five municipal high-tech laboratories and research centers and seven academic key laboratories. Its research covered the following six scientific research fields, clean energy application technology, special materials machining technology, electronic information technology, biological technology, environment and security technology, radiation application technology, etc.
As one of Beijing’s important scientific strength, BAST’s high-tech research centers found its own council, engaged 9 academicians from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engaging and nearly 50 experts on opto-mechatronics, new energy, environment protection, new biomedicine and new material fields. Till now the center has obtained more than 200 awards, 80% of them have applied in their institution or spread to the market.

National Engineering Research Center for Renewable Energy
In order to speed up the industrialization development in renewable energy utilization, State Science and Technology Commission chose BSERI as the supporting institute of National Engineering Research Center for Renewable Energy in 1992. The Center was formally approved and nominated in 1995. 
The industrialization of the solar thermal utilization technology is the center’s major objective. The manufacturing base of heat-pipe evacuated-tubular solar collectors was founded after winning through various key-technologies in pilot line. As the excellent performance with high thermal efficiency, anti-freezing and heat impact-resist, the heat-pipe evacuated tubular solar collector not only can be used for procuring hot water, also for space heating, cooling , air- conditioning, and industrial process heating etc. Center’s PV department has not only achieved great progress in R&D and of solar cell and its industrialization technology, also gained obvious development in solar PV application, such as 800kW stand alone PV power generation station installed for Liangshan District, Sichuan Prov., and 10kW and 100kW grid-connected PV power generation system installed in BSERI.
